Pet Friendly Home Tips

When you're planning a new home for you and your pets, experts agree that you need to consider the individual of needs of your pets. Most pet owners would do anything for our furry kids, but we also know they can be a challenge from time to time –especially when moving into a new home. When purchasing a new home, be sure to consider your pet in the plan. Maybe you should reconsider that multi-level home if you have an elderly pup.

Here are some resident tips on getting your pet adjusted to its new space:

Vacuum regularly - Pets can shed more than usual when they are stressed. This might sound obvious, but vacuuming your house twice a week when your pet is shedding is a great tip. Unfortunately, pet hair has an odor and it contains dirt-attracting oils that can soak into carpet fiber.

Pet-Friendly Fabric - Believe it or not, there is such a thing. It’s called Crypton, a synthetic fabric that’s resistant to stains, smells, bacteria and muddy paws.

Washable Fabrics Coverlets - If your pet sleeps with you, expect accidents. If you have a beautiful silk comforter, take it off the bed, and replace it with an all-cotton cover, which can take the wear and tear of nails, drool, mud and hair.

Matchy Matchy - When choosing colors for your home, consider finding something that matches your pet’s fur color. This provides for some camouflage during the heavy shedding seasons.
