Terriance and Joyce Find the Magic at Waterset
After a combined 42 years of military service, Terriance and Joyce Hamilton are ready to enjoy retirement - and for this hardworking couple, Waterset is the perfect place to do just that. We sat down with the Hamiltons to talk to them about retirement, house-hunting from a distance, and why building a home was the best decision.
Joyce starts by explaining, “We’re at retirement age and we want to enjoy the rest of our life.” They knew that Florida was where they wanted to be. From their home in Kentucky, house-hunting began online. “I went online and started looking for communities. Waterset was one that really appealed to me when I was looking at the homes online.”
After doing their research online, Joyce and Terriance booked a flight to see Tampa Bay’s best communities in-person. “We went to all these places. We were here for a week...everywhere we went, it just wasn’t right.” From Land O’Lakes to Apollo Beach, the Hamiltons searched all over Tampa Bay for the perfect home. They eventually settled on a resale home in a 55+ community.
“We had chosen a community and we were getting ready to sign for it,” says Terriance, but something was off. “I woke her up early in the morning, I said, ‘We’re going back to see Waterset, we’re going to build a house.’”
“And I was so happy he said that!” exclaims Joyce. “I don’t know anything about building, I don’t know anything about this process. But I was like, ‘YES!’ When he said that, that was the answer. I’m free to pick the house I really want.”
In Waterset, Terriance and Joyce were able to build the home of their dreams, not, as Joyce says, “somebody else’s dream.” They were able to pick their floor plan (the Bayshore II by Homes by WestBay, pictured throughout) and outfit it top-to-bottom at the Design Center. The result? A stunning home in a perfect community.
“Even now, when we wake up, we just look around. Sometimes I just walk through the house and think, ‘This is so beautiful,’” explains Joyce. “It’s us.”
All in all, Terriance sums it up perfectly.
“This is forever. We love Waterset, we love where we live.”
