Waterset Prepares for National Trails Day
Waterset by Newland Communities is celebrating National Trails Day on Saturday, June 2 by encouraging residents and the public to get out and enjoy the 12 miles of trails offered within the master-planned community. With a one day goal of reaching 1,000 miles this Saturday, Waterset is inviting residents and the surrounding community to participate.
Waterset is owned in a joint venture partnership between NORTH AMERICA SEKISUI HOUSE, LLC (NASH), the U.S. business unit and full subsidiary of SEKISUI HOUSE, LTD., Japan’s largest homebuilder and leading diversified developer, and Newland Real Estate Group, LLC, whose development business, Newland Communities, is the master developer of the community. Newland is well known in Tampa due to its successful FishHawk Ranch, Waterset, MiraBay, and Westchase communities. Waterset is one of more than 30 communities the NASH-Newland partnership owns together in 11 states across the United States.
To participate, residents and the public can walk, run or bike along the Waterset trails between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. Using an app to track miles, such as MapMyRun, participants should come to The Landing Café and Club within the community to log their miles. Miles that are tracked anywhere throughout Waterset will count towards the community goal of 1,000 miles. Plus, every mile tracked counts as an entry to win a pair of Waterset Yeti 30 oz. Ramblers. Participants can also share the event and their photos on social media using the tag #FindYourWatersetTrail.
Waterset offers five different community trails ranging from 0.7 miles to 1.5 miles. The trails can be combined for an even greater workout, and there is also a Fit Trail which features outdoor fitness equipment. National Trails Day is held each year on the first Saturday in June. Sponsored by the American Hiking Society, the holiday encourages people to discover and use their local trails, promotes awareness of the benefits that trails provide and instills excitement for the outdoors. This year’s National Trails Day also marks the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act, which created and protected some of America’s great outdoor locations such as the Appalachian Trail and Alabama’s Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail.
