8 Essentials for an Efficient Home Office
8 Essentials for an Efficient Home Office
As working from home becomes the new normal, home plans are changing to reflect this - and here at Waterset, our new homes are no exception. From designated “flex spaces” to “smart home” technology, browse our floor plans to find the perfect fit. And once you’ve found it, here are 8 essentials to make it, well, work.
1. A To-Do List
Working in an office has its distractions - but so does working from home! Writing out a To-Do List every day helps keep you organized on on track. It is also a great way to prioritize your tasks each day.
2. The Right Chair - Or Not
Having a good office chair can help prevent poor posture, back pain, and other issues. However, there are also many alternatives to the traditional office chair, including stability balls and standing desks.
3. Art & Flowers
It may sound silly, but colors and scents can stimulate your productivity and creativity. Choose a favorite art piece and some fragrant flowers to decorate your office, or consider using a scent diffuser.
4. An Organizational System That Works For You
From file cabinets and paper trays to desktop folders and digital bookshelves, the options abound for keeping your books, documents, and other supplies in order. The only essential here is that it works for you!
5. Music
Just like art and flowers, music can keep you stimulated and motivated. Science shows that there’s no perfect genre, just choose what you most like to listen to. A mid-range volume - not too loud or too soft - is perfect to keep you on track.
6. A Back-Up Plan
Your back-up plan should be twofold: a back-up memory for your computer and a back-up place to work should something go wrong in your office. The Landing Club has free wifi, making it the perfect spot to go when you need to get out of your home office.
7. Pen & Paper
Writing things down is a more efficient way to remember them. Plus, the aesthetics of physical office supplies will make your home office feel less like home and more like an office.
8. Natural Light
Again, we’re all about keeping you focused and motivated, and natural light will keep you alert and awake. You can even open up your window for a breath of fresh air.
Waterset has a great social network of remote workers who meet semi-regularly to chat, brainstorm, and simply socialize. Learn more about the Work From Home group and other social clubs from our community specialists.
