Happy Birthday to.... US!

Happy Birthday to….Us!

It is amazing to think that it has already been five years since our Grand Opening! Since opening in October 2012, Waterset has seen tremendous growth - along with the rest of the SouthShore area.

At our opening in 2012, Waterset consisted of The Landing Cafe and Club, a fitness center and swimming pool, four home builders, and a row of model homes. We are now a 2000+ acre community with close to 1,000 residents and multiple amenities for them to enjoy.

In the past five years, Waterset has added new homes, new parks, and new places to play. In 2015, Waterset unveiled The Lakeside, a 5-acre amenity featuring two dog parks, a splash pad, playground, and barbecue area, plus a wide open space referred to as the Grand Lawn. This is where Waterset holds its annual Concerts for a Cause series, benefitting Feeding Tampa Bay, as well as other events for the community. Concerts for a Cause won a Future of the Region Community Service Award from the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council in 2014.

2015 was an exciting year for Waterset for reasons other than The Lakeside opening. That year, The Landing earned a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for energy efficiency and sustainability. Waterset was also recognized with a Gold Award in the 2015 Best in American Living™ Awards (BALA) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). We also welcomed Neal Communities as a builder of single-family homes and villas.

In 2016, we were recognized as the #1 Community in Tampa, based on new home starts! We also welcomed Lennar as a builder with a section of townhomes near The Lakeside, and Eco-Friendly Homes (then Greenergy) with a line of energy-efficient homes and the first net-zero model home in Tampa Bay.

This year alone has seen so much growth, with more expansions planned in the future. In 2017, Waterset was listed as one of the top 50 Master-Planned Communities according to RCLCO, a well-established consulting firm that provides strategic advice for real estate developers. The on-site Waterset Charter School opened this fall. Our Lennar townhomes have sold out, and we are down to final opportunities with Neal Communities, CalAtlantic, and David Weekley Patio Homes. Meanwhile, we are welcoming new builder Park Square Homes.

Looking forward, there are so many things to be excited about! In Spring of 2018, we will open The Waterset Club, a 5,300 square foot amenity that is currently under construction. Featuring courts for basketball, tennis, pickleball and sand volleyball, two pools, and a fitness center, this amenity is enjoyed by residents of all ages. There will also be an indoor gathering room which can be rented for events and a game room. 2018 will also see the completion of Paseo Al Mar, which will connect Waterset to US Highway 301.

Other future plans include thousands of acres of new homes and parks, a possible school, and a possible Town Center. Stay tuned for many more exciting events!

Happy Birthday, Waterset! Here’s to many more!
